The WebGL standard was created by the Khronos Group in 2011 as a low-level, web-based deviant of their flagship technology known as OpenGL ES 2.0. The intent of OpenGL ES 2.0 was to implement a single API that would allow developers to create and optimize rich graphics for embedded systems found on devices ranging from desktop computers to gaming consoles to mobile phones, leaning on the side of 3D graphics processing.
As an education major emphasizing in history content, I am well aware of the clichÃ© that those that neglect history are doomed to repeat it. In a similar statement focused on the future of technology an unknown author stated that the future will be the past, only with cooler toys.” While the merit and validity of both statements can be debated, one thing that is certain is that technology is continuing to advance at a rapid pace, creating the toys mentioned by the author.
